Service for Sara M. Williams Petty will Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:30 pm Marlin Missionary Baptist Church with burial following Peaceful Rest Memorial Park in Marlin. Visitation will be on Friday, January 28, 2021 from 12:00 pm -4:00 pm at the funeral home, Masks are required for visitation and attending Mrs. Petty Service.
Sara Mae Williams Petty was born December 23, 1941, to the parentage of McKinley Williams, Sr. and Josephine C. Williams in Waxahachie, Texas. She received her education at Booker T. Washington school in Marlin, Texas. She met and married Dorrice Petty in 1964 and two children were born to this union. She attended McLennan Community College, Waco, Texas, where she received her Certification as a Medication Aide. She was the first African American Surgical Technician at Torbett Hutchin Smith Hospital in Marlin, Texas where worked for over 30 years in various positions. She retired from Mexia Group Homes in 2001.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Church of The Living God, PGT in Marlin, Texas where she has been a member for 62 years. She was currently the Mother of the Church, she was an usher, mission sister president and faithful member.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dorrice “Snake” Petty, her granddaughter LaToya Lynn Guice, her parents McKinley Williams, Sr., and Josephine C. Williams, two sisters JoAnn Burns and Bobbie Williams, three brothers McKinley Williams, Jr., Lee Joe Williams and Melvin Williams and a sister-in-law Lee Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a son Gregory Petty of Tomball, Texas, a daughter Annie Petty of Waco, Texas, two brothers Lewis Williams (Elosia) of Moody, Texas, and Bobby Williams of Fort Worth, Texas. Grandsons Mervyn Peoples and Ryan Petty of Tomball, Texas, granddaughters DeAndrea Petty of Marlin, Texas and Se’lah Petty of Tomball, Texas. One Uncle Eurva Crawford of Waxahachie, Texas, ne brother-in-law Ira Burns, Sr. of Marlin, Texas and sister-in-law Velma Williams, Waxahachie, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Her sister friend Lear Alford.
