REFLECTIONS OF THE LIFE OF ROBIN ELAINE MCKEE

Robin Elaine McKee was born June 17,1976 in Rosebud, Falls County, Texas to Robert McKee, Jr. and Evelyn Smith McKee.  She was the first of two children born to this union.

Robin accepted the Lord as her personal Savior.  She grew up in Davis Chapel United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir singing and playing piano.  She was also a Sunday School teacher and youth leader.

Robin was a 1994 graduate of Marlin High School and a proud member of the Bulldog Marching Band.  She continued her education past high school obtaining an Associate’s Degree from McLennan Community College and becoming a licensed Cosmetologist.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services Management and a Master’s Degree in Adult Education from the University of Phoenix.

She lived a life of love and service in the community and in her work life with a special love for children.   She was a Girl Scout Assistant Troop Leader. She was one of the founding members of the Malcolm Smith Memorial Foundation.  The Foundation awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education.  It also offers an after school tutoring/mentoring program for children in the Marlin community.

Robin worked for the Texas Youth Commission, Head Start Program, Child Protective Service, J.C. Penney Salon, The Methodist Home.  Her last work endeavor was Communities in School of the Heart of Texas working as a Site Coordinator at the Chilton Elementary School campus.  Previously, she worked in this position in the Marlin and Waco Independent School Districts.  During her time in Chilton Ms. Robin, as she was called, touched the lives of students and staff with her radiant smile and her servant’s heart.  She organized a free barber clinic for Chilton ISD during the summer.  She also worked to ensure that families had food and clothing.  She led classes for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students designed to support their mental and emotional health.  Ms. Robin was a bright light on campus who always had an encouraging word to share to brighten someone’s day.

She was preceded in death by her Dad, Robert McKee, Jr.; one brother, Michael Bailey; paternal grandparents, Robert McKee, Sr. and Lovie McKee; maternal grandparents, Curtis T. Smith Sr. and Winnie Moore Smith.
