David Michael Scruggs was February 4, 1952 to the Parentage of Charlie Scruggs and Annie B Price in Marlin, Texas.
David early years was spent in Marlin and Chilton, Texas with his mom and grandparents. He attended school in Chilton, Texas.
David accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church.
David joined the military and served in the United States Army, Navy Marine Corp and National Guard from 1969-1976 only a few to have served in four branches of service.
In the summer of 1972 David met his future wife, Patricia Ann Tiller, she being 14 years old and he being 20 years old asked Patricia mother Ms. Vera Mae Tiller permission to date her. Ms. Tiller gave David permission to date Patricia with rules he had to abide by. David and Patricia were married on February 2, 1976 “Ground Hog Day” while on leave from the U. S. Navy, in which he had to leave that same night (No Honeymoon) to return for duty. To this union four children were born, Rodney Eugene, infant daughter, Theresa Michelle, David Scruggs Jr., and Roderick Anthony.
After David military career, David attended McLennan Community College, Texas State Technical College and Texas A&M. David career consists of TDCJ, East Ham Unit, Auto Mechanic, supervisor for Walmart, Disc Jockey for KLMT radio station and a career technology teacher at Marlin High School for 27 years where he retired. In his retirement David fulfilled his dreams and goals opening a restaurant and starting a radio station at home. Cooking was his true love and opening a retail store. His dreams and goals were met this year in which I objected, thought he was overdoing because of his health. After completing his mission on earth his assignment in life was completed and God said “It Is Finished.
David served as Worshipful Past Master of Hopeful Hodge # 78 F&AM in Marlin, Texas and Retired Teachers Association.
David had a gift of many talents, it wasn’t anything he didn’t have knowledge of, most of technology. If it was broken he could fix it. He never seemed fame or fortune, it was his desire. He had pride in his children, and grandchildren and great grandson whom he loved dearly.
